This could be a real controverial topic, JUST THE WAY I LIKE IT !!
Well when i attended my CEH classes online back when i was in my 4th sem of engineering, i was really excited to see that how easy it was to hack with the tools available in the market.
"A confession to make" i did hack into my college computers during my programming lab sessions, as none of my teachers or the technical heads of my institution knew what all these stuffs are about.
It was then i realized that Hacking or Cracking can be done even by a 9 yrs old kid with a potential cracking
software with absolutely NO knowledge about the system ( SYSTEM HERE MEANS AN ORGANIZED GROUP OF PCs/HUBS/SWITCHES/ROUTERS "OR" A SOFTWARE "OR" A STANDALONE/MEMBER SERVER ) that he or she is going to hack or the methodologies used by the cracking software to crack in to that system.
I thought that if someone breaks into a sytem using these available softwares with no knowledge of its working or the system he is about to break in, then HE IS NOT A HACKER BUT A SCRIPT KIDDY.
And I NEVER WANTED TO BECOME A SCRIPT KIDDY.
MOSTLY ITS NOT THE HACKER BUT THOSE SMART "BUSY FOR NOTHING PEOPLE", "WEARING GOOD SUIT WITH A TIE" FORGETS (HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO KNOWLEDGE ....Shhh... Its a secret !!) TO IMPLEMENT THE PROVIDED SECURITY FEATURES.
Well there are only few CEH who have very sound knowledge of various Operating systems, Hardwares, Network elements, etc. but this breed of people are difficult to find. The big companies and sometimes media here in India hypes the Script Kiddie.
One question i just keep asking myself, what if i find a loop hole into my network..........?
Well as a CEH i did my job..... Loophole is found !! Yipeeee...............
BUT HOW AM I GONNA CLOSE IT !! If i dont have knowledge about the security features of OS, Routers, Switches,etc.
This is where BLACKHATS scores...... They have a very deep knowledge of the systems, and while fiddling with these they discovers the bugs and loop holes into the Implementation of the system or into the programming.
This pushed me to move from my B.E. to AFCEH to CCNA to CCNA Security to MCSA to MCTS to RH253. And still many to go .................. so that WHEN I FIND A LOOPHOLE INTO THE SYSTEM I SHOULD ALSO KNOW HOW TO CLOSE IT !!!!!!!
